Combined Wellness Solutions

What is an EP ?

An Exercise Physiologist is an allied health professional who uses exercise as a form of medicine to support people with chronic conditions, neurological disorders, and physical impairments. We specialise in designing evidence-based exercise programs to improve strength, mobility, and overall function, helping individuals regain independence and enhance their quality of life.

Our approach focuses on movement as therapy, tailoring exercises to each person’s unique needs—whether it’s recovering from an injury, managing a long-term condition, or improving daily function. Through guided exercise, education, and ongoing support, we empower our clients to move better, feel stronger, and live healthier.

What Services We Offer

In-Clinic

Our exercise physiologists design tailored programs based on clinical and personal goals. One-on-one sessions focus on improving strength, mobility, and independence for individuals with neurological conditions. We help clients regain function, enhance fitness, and achieve long-term health goals throughout diverse range of inclusive equipment.

Home-Visits

If attending a clinic isn’t an option, we bring the session to you. Our exercise physiologists provide fully equipped home-based sessions, ensuring you receive the support and guidance needed in a comfortable and familiar environment.

Hydrotherapy

Exercise in water reduces the effects of gravity, creating a weightless environment that makes movement easier and more comfortable. Hydrotherapy supports rehabilitation by improving circulation, mobility, and strength in a low-impact setting.

Telehealth

No matter where you are, we can support you through virtual sessions. Our telehealth service provides expert exercise guidance from the comfort of your home, making treatment options accessible anywhere.

Group Training

Stay motivated and have fun while exercising with friends! Our small group sessions (up to 3 people) provide a supportive environment where you can work towards your goals together, guided by an exercise physiologist. Perfect for those who want to train with friends while receiving expert guidance.

Locomotion Training

We help improve walking ability through specialised treadmill training and the use of a frame walker and parallel bars. These targeted exercises build strength, coordination, and confidence in movement to regain abilities to walk.

Clients Testimonials

“Combined treat everyone like family, the establishment is super, and the instructors are the best I have ever experienced. I have improved so much since being at Combined, I absolutely love attending, and hate to miss a gym session.”

- Veronica, Stroke

My 20 year old daughter Caitlin with Autism has been attending weekly 1:1 sessions at Combined Wellness Solutions for nearly 6 years now and I can honestly say that these sessions have proven to be a major contributor to improving not only her physical strength abilities and skill, but also her coordination and overall cognitive function.

- Parent of Participant

Our daughter has been receiving treatment at Combined Wellness Solutions for over four years, and we are beyond grateful for the incredible care she has received. After multiple surgeries, we knew that post-surgical therapy was just as important as the procedures themselves—ensuring that the work of her surgeons could truly make a difference. Thanks to the exceptional skills and dedication of the exercise physiologists, she has made remarkable progress in her strength, mobility, and independence.

Conditions We Work With

How Exercise Physiologists Work with Neurological Conditions?

Neurological conditions affect the nervous system, including the brain, spinal cord, and peripheral nerves. These conditions often lead to muscle weakness, balance issues, coordination difficulties, and mobility impairments.
Combined Wellness Solutions’ Exercise Physiologists (EPs) specialise in designing tailored exercise programs to help individuals with neurological conditions regain strength, improve mobility, and enhance overall independence.

Through evidence-based movement therapy, our Exercise Physiologists focus on:

  • Neuroplasticity stimulation – Encouraging the brain and nervous system to create new pathways for movement and function.
  • Improving strength & coordination – Targeted exercises to restore muscle function and control.
  • Gait training & mobility support – Using assistive devices, treadmill harnesses, and functional exercises to enhance walking ability.
  • Balance & falls prevention – Reducing the risk of falls through proprioception and stability training.
  • Reducing muscle spasticity & stiffness – Movement-based interventions to manage tone and improve flexibility.
  • Enhancing daily function & independence – Focusing on real-life activities such as transferring, stair climbing, and self-care tasks.

Combined Wellness Solution’s EPs work in a specialised neurological rehabilitation setting, using equipment such as gait trainers, parallel bars, and functional exercise stations to provide a safe, structured approach to rehabilitation.

How Exercise Physiologists Work with Neurodevelopmental Conditions ?

Neurodevelopmental conditions affect the brain’s development and function, often leading to challenges in movement, coordination, sensory processing, and participation in daily activities. These conditions can impact mobility, independence, and overall quality of life.
Exercise Physiologists (EPs) specialise in designing individualised and structured exercise programs to support individuals with neurodevelopmental conditions — helping to build strength, improve coordination, and promote confidence in movement.

Through evidence-based movement therapy, our Exercise Physiologists focus on:

  • Motor Skill Development – Enhancing gross and fine motor skills through task-specific, repetitive practice.
  • Balance & Coordination Training – Helping individuals navigate their environment with improved control and confidence.
  • Sensory Integration & Regulation – Supporting sensory processing through graded exposure and controlled movement environments.
  • Postural Control & Stability – Strengthening core muscles to support sitting, standing, and everyday movements.
  • Social Engagement & Emotional Wellbeing – Encouraging participation, routine, and structured activities to support self-regulation.
  • Functional Movement Training – Practicing real-life skills such as stair climbing, safe transfers, and navigating different environments.

Our EPs create a supportive and inclusive environment that allows individuals to move, learn, and grow at their own pace. Programs are carefully tailored to meet each person’s unique needs and goals, promoting physical, cognitive, and emotional wellbeing through purposeful movement.”

How Exercise Physiologists Work with Musculoskeletal Conditions ?

Musculoskeletal conditions affect the muscles, bones, joints, and connective tissues, often leading to pain, stiffness, reduced mobility, and functional limitations. These conditions can arise from injury, chronic disease, or degenerative changes.
Combined Wellness Solutions’ Exercise Physiologists (EPs) use evidence-based movement strategies to help individuals manage pain, improve strength, restore mobility, and enhance overall function.

Through individualised exercise programs, or Exercise Physiologists focus on:

  • Pain management – Using movement-based interventions to alleviate discomfort and reduce reliance on medication.
  • Restoring strength & flexibility – Targeted exercises to rebuild muscle function and joint mobility.
  • Improving posture & biomechanics – Addressing movement patterns to prevent further injury.
  • Rehabilitation after injury or surgery – Assisting recovery from fractures, joint replacements, and soft tissue injuries after the acute stages.
  • Enhancing mobility & daily function – Helping individuals regain independence in daily activities.
  • Preventing future injuries – Strengthening muscles and joints to minimise re-injury risk.

How Exercise Physiologists Work with Cardiovascular Conditions?

Cardiovascular conditions affect the heart, blood vessels, and circulatory system, often leading to issues with blood flow, endurance, and overall cardiovascular health. These conditions can increase the risk of heart disease, stroke, and other complications if not properly managed.

Combined Wellness Solutions’ Exercise Physiologists (EPs) play a critical role in cardiovascular rehabilitation and management by designing structured exercise programs that improve heart function, circulation, and overall endurance.

Through targeted exercise interventions, our Exercise Physiologists focus on:

  • Enhancing cardiovascular fitness – Improving heart and lung efficiency through aerobic conditioning
  • Managing blood pressure & circulation – Encouraging healthy blood flow and reducing hypertension risks.
  • Strengthening the heart muscle – Using controlled exercise to improve heart function.
  • Reducing risk factors for heart disease – Encouraging healthy lifestyle habits through movement.
  • Improving endurance & daily function – Helping individuals perform everyday activities with less fatigue.
  • Post-cardiac rehabilitation – Assisting individuals recovering from heart attacks, surgeries, and other cardiovascular events.

EPs work closely with individuals recovering from or managing heart-related conditions, ensuring safe, progressive, and effective exercise routines.

How Exercise Physiologists Work with Metabolic Conditions?

Metabolic conditions affect the body’s ability to regulate and process energy, often leading to complications such as weight gain, insulin resistance, inflammation, and cardiovascular risks. These conditions can significantly impact daily life, making movement, energy balance, and long-term health difficult to manage.
Combined Wellness Solutions’ Exercise Physiologists (EPs) play a role in managing metabolic conditions by designing individualised exercise programs to improve metabolism, insulin sensitivity, cardiovascular health, and overall well-being.

Through evidence-based interventions, our EPs focus on:

  • Enhancing insulin sensitivity – Resistance and aerobic training help improve glucose uptake and insulin function, benefiting individuals with diabetes and insulin resistance.
  • Optimising fat metabolism – Structured exercise programs increase fat oxidation, helping to regulate weight and body composition.
  • Managing inflammation and oxidative stress – Physical activity can reduce systemic inflammation and oxidative damage associated with metabolic disorders.
  • Improving cardiovascular health – Exercise supports heart function, lowers blood pressure, and improves circulation, reducing the risk of metabolic syndrome complications.
  • Supporting muscle mass and strength – Strength training helps prevent muscle loss and promotes metabolic efficiency.
  • Enhancing energy levels and fatigue management – Structured movement routines help individuals combat energy fluctuations and chronic fatigue.

Exercise Physiologists work with individuals to create personalised movement strategies, considering fitness level, medical history, and metabolic function. We also educate clients on lifestyle strategies, including physical activity guidelines, movement integration into daily life, and sustainable exercise habits.
